15 arrested as police bust 100 million baht San Kamphaeng gambling operation

Division 5 Police, in conjunction with San Kamphaeng Police and representatives of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare have arrested 15 men in an operation targeting a online gambling service being run from a house in Moo 2, Tambon Ton Pao, San Kamphaeng.

The men were accused of being involved in and running an online gambling service called UEFA 168 that had 5,000 customers and a turnover of a whopping 100 million baht, making it possibly the largest gambling site arrest in northern Thailand history.

Along with the arrests, police seized 17 computers, 4 notebooks, a range of gambling equipment, 82 books recording transactions, 50 e-cards, 52 letters of credit and for good measure, deposit slips as well.

The alleged operation was run from the websites ufa168bet.com and ufabet168.com with customers able to transfer money to the gambling operation via a bank account. In addition to the website, the operators also provided support via phone and LINE.

Of those arrested were the owner of the site, named as Mr. Kosin Wichien (transliterated from Thai), four people involved in marketing the site and 11 admin staff.
