17 people have been injured, four seriously as a scheduled Green Bus bus service between Chiang Mai and Nan crashed off a mountain road in Phrae last night, May 31.
The accident happened on Den Chai-Lampang Road (Highway 11) in Moo 5 Bo Lek Long, Long District at around 8:30 p.m.
According to the bus driver, Mr. Suriyon Saenchan, 42, he was driving along the road when a pickup truck suddenly changed lane and blocked his path, causing him to swerve then lose control of the bus. He also blamed the road being wet and slippery as contributing to the accident.
The bus ended up rolling around 20 meters off the highway before coming to rest on its side.
There were 32 passengers on the bus at the time of the accident.
Those injured were transported to Long District Hospital with those more seriously injured being transported to Phrae Hospital and Phrae Christian Hospital in Mueang Phrae.
Police are said to be investigating the cause of the accident.
