18 people, mostly young students have been injured in a crash between a school bus and a six-wheel truck in Chiang Rai.
The accident occurred on Chiang Mai-Chiang Rai Road (Highway 118) between the 79 and 80-kilometer markers in Wiang Pa Pao district this morning (Aug. 29) at 7:15 a.m.
The circumstances of the accident an not clear. Photographs show the school bus – a Toyota van, has struck the truck and is on the wrong side of the road.
Of the 18 injured nearly all were described by Thai language media as “primary school students” who were being taken to school, however, some appear to be significantly younger. Fortunately there were no serious injuries with a number of children suffering broken bones and concussion.
Police are interviewing the drivers of both vehicles as well as witnesses to the accident.
