2.3 earthquake recorded in Chiang Dao

While May so far has been quiet seismically in the north it has not been without activity with a small earthquake recorded in Chiang Dao yesterday, May 12.

The 2.3 on the Richter scale quake was recorded at 5:24 a.m. at 19.425 N 98.697 E – Mueang near the provincial border in Mae Hong Son.

The nearest town of note to the earthquake is Pai, which was the last location in the north to experience an earthquake on May 9.

The locations are notable as both reside close to the Mae Thai fault line as opposed to the far more active and better known Phayao fault line to the east.
