2.4, 3.0 earthquakes recorded in Lampang and Chiang Rai

Two earthquakes have been recorded today, May 2 in the north after a relatively low level of seismic activity in April.

The first earthquake – 2.4 on the Richter scale struck at 1:29 a.m. at 19.244 N 99.640 E – Thung Hua, Wang Nuea District, Lampang, the same location as the swarm of earthquake that struck in March.

The second and larger earthquake, a 3.0, was recorded at 5:12 a.m. at 19.724 N 99.574 E – Tambon Mae Suai, Mae Suai District, Chiang Rai.

Both locations are on the Phayao fault line, the most active of the six fault lines in the north.
