35 people were injured after a bus heading to Chiang Mai from Rayong hit a vehicle and ended up on its side in Phrae last night (July 26).
The crash occurred on Denchai – Uttaradit Road (Highway 11) in Denchai District at 9:20 p.m. when a Phitsanulok-registered Honda Jazz crossed the path of the bus causing the bus driver attempting to avoid hitting it – unsuccessfully and as a consequence the bus itself ending up on its side.
The driver of the vehicle, Mr. Nirut Pradit, 27, said he had been buying rice from a local store for his children who were also in the car and did not see the bus coming when he pulled out in front of it.
Fortunately, most of the injuries were minor with only five people being transported to a hospital in Phrae.
Police are said to be investigating the cause of the accident and may charge Mr. Pradit with reckless driving.
