800,000 yaba tablets seized near Chiang Rai checkpoint

Royal Thai Army soldiers and police have seized over 800,000 yaba tablets being transported in Chiang Rai last night, Jan. 3.

A Sukhothai-registered truck transporting the drugs stopped short of a checkpoint in Chan Chwa, Mae Chan District at 9:20 p.m.

The driver of the truck is said to successfully fled the scene on foot before police and soldiers were able to get to the vehicle.

The Northern Border Drug Prevention and Suppression Group Two is said to be continuing recent efforts to deploy more patrols and check points in their ongoing battle against drug smuggling in the north.
