AirAsia has announced that it is going to start direct services from Chiang Mai International Airport to Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi, Vietnam starting Oct. 28.
The company will initially offer four flights a week – Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday with the outgoing flight leaving Chiang Mai at 1:20 p.m. then landing in Hanoi at 2:50 p.m. with the return flight departing Hanoi at 3:20 p.m. then landing back in Chiang Mai at 4:55 p.m.
As an introduction to the service, AirAsia is offering an introductory price of 1,090 baht one way for bookings made before Aug. 19.
Currently, Bangkok Air is the only airline serving the route having begun daily flights using a smaller ATR 72-500 / 600 aircraft March 25 this year. AirAsia is serving the route with Airbus A320 aircraft.
The company noted at a launch event that it’s now Chiang Mai’s biggest international airline with services to eight destinations from the capital of the north: Hanoi, Macau, Hong Kong, Hangzhou, Kuala Lumpur, Changsha, Yangon and Taipei
