A body of an unknown man was pulled out of the Chiang Mai Moat yesterday evening, July 11.
The man, described only as between 45-50 years of age and wearing black shorts, was discovered by a passerby opposite the Chinese Consulate at 8 p.m. with police believing he had been in the moat up to two days before being discovered.
While not discovering the name of the deceased, locals told police that he was a known drunk who liked to drink next to the moat of an evening.
As there was no evidence of foul play, police believe he may have fallen asleep drunk and rolled into the moat, subsequently drowning.
The body was taken to Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital for an autopsy.
