Cannabis growing operations raided in Chom Thong and Lamphun

The Royal Thai Army has shut down two cannabis growing operations in Chom Thong District, Chiang Mai and Wiang Nong Long, Lamphun.

The Lamphun growing operation, perhaps better described as one guy and a few plants, was found in Moo 9, Nong Long, Wiang Nong Long with the owner of the plants, Mr. Somsakjai, 53, arrested at the scene. The five plants discovered at the property were described by Thai language media as being around 3 meters tall.

Back in Chiang Mai, soldiers raided a property in Moo 10 Khuang Prao, Chom Thong and arrested Mr. Somchai Moo Nong, 57, who was found to be growing 11 cannabis plants.

In both cases, the army was acting on tipoffs from neighbors as both men had made little effort to hide their growing operations.

Both have been remanded in custody pending court hearings.
