Chiang Mai health officials offer free flu vaccinations to vulnerable people

Chiang Mai Public Health officials have announced the availability of a new program that will provide free flu shots to vulnerable members of the community.

The shots, which will cover A Michigan 2015 (H1N1), A Singapore 2016 (H3N2) and B Phuket 2013, the three most prevalent forms of flu this year, will be available for free to pregnant women 4 months and above; children 6 months to 2 years of age; people with chronic diseases, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, heart failure, stroke and kidney failure; and those 65 and older.

In April and May 2018, 4,895 influenza patients were found in the Chiang metro area, the largest number of cases occurring in Mueang and Sansai.

The free shots are available from public hospitals in Chiang Mai through to August 31.
