A Chiang Mai man has died after the vehicle he was traveling in was involved in a serious accident on a Bangkok Motorway.
Mr. Ratthakan Komolrat, 40 and a lecturer at Mahidol University was driving when his vehicle slammed into another vehicle and caught fire.
A royal motorcade policeman is reported to have dragged Mr. Komolrat out of the vehicle before the fire took hold but he subsequently died on injuries anyway.
The driver of the other vehicle, who was also injured, said that he was in the right-hand lane when the vehicle driven by Mr. Komolrat struck his car.
Given that there were no brake marks at the scene police suspect the accident may have have been due to brake failure. As long-time readers would be aware, brake failure is at plague levels in the Kingdom.
