Strange items appearing in an X-ray scan at Chiang Mai Airport has led to the discovery of 15 kilograms of heroin.
The bag was pulled aside for secondary screening after a large amount of toilet paper, large black sponges and an old backpack were noticed inside. Once the items were removed, customs authorities discovered 40 red badges attached to carbon paper to interrupt the X-ray scan, and underneath that the 15 kilograms of heroin.
An unnamed man from Nepal who was transporting the bag was arrested at the scene.
