Heroin mule arrested at Chiang Mai Airport

A foreign national, one of seven from Nepal and India arrested nationwide, was caught at Chiang Mai Airport smuggling heroin June 6.

Bir Gongbotamang Singh, 50, was arrested at CNX while the other men – Sudarshan Thapa, 50, Bir Prasad Gurung, 51, Tamang Suresh, 36, Abashesh Gurung, 37, Kare Gurung, 62, and Lal Gurung, 49 were arrested at various locations in Bangkok.

The seven are alleged to be part of a heroin smuggling ring that were transporting heroin from Myanmar to Hong Kong via Thailand.

According to reports, the men were paid 100,000 baht each for their roles in the heroin smuggling scheme.
