A Chinese tourist has died after attempting to cross the Superhighway near Big C Extra 2 in the Chiang Mai Business Park in Nong Pa Khrang.
The woman, named by Thai language media as Miss Huang Cifei, 21, attempted to cross Chiang Mai’s busiest and largest highway last night (Aug. 30) at around 11:30 p.m. when she was struck by a Toyota sedan.
The driver of the sedan told police that the woman walked out in front of her and that they had no opportunity to stop.
Miss Cifei is said to have arrived in Chiang Mai Aug. 28 with a group of other Chinese nationals. Chiang Mai Business Park has become a popular destination for Chinese nationals and hosts a number of Chinese banks as well as Chinese-owned businesses.
Her body was taken to Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital for an autopsy while the Chinese Consulate in Hai Ya has been advised of the death so that they can inform relatives.
