Cleanup begins in Nan after flood waters recede

Residents in Nan Province, including Mueang Nan (Nan City) have begun cleaning up after flood waters that inundated the city and surrounding areas started to recede on Monday.

The Nan River broke its banks on Saturday morning inundating some areas with flood waters up to 1.5 meters in height although waters averaged between 50-70 centimeters in most places.

Not all areas were as lucky with some still said to be suffering from minor flooding as of Monday afternoon, Aug. 20.

Schools and government offices remain closed but authorities hope to have then reopened later in the week.
