Drug raid catches dealer with 9 million yaba pills in Chiang Dao district

District 5 police in conjunction with the Narcotics Control Board have arrested a drug dealer in Ban Pa Bong Ngam Chiang Dao district Thursday who had with him 9 million yaba pills and 300 kilograms of crystal meth.

The accused, Panatkit Soponphumipanya, was caught near the Myanmar border and is alleged to have been preparing the drugs for transportation to Ayutthaya.

Along with capturing the drugs, police also seized approximately 10 million bahts worth of Mr. Soponphumipanya assets which police claim were obtained via the proceeds of crime.

The suspect was also wanted on drug charges dating to 2010 when he allegedly supplied 158,000 yaba pills to two men subsequently arrested in Chon Buri.
