Drunk monk hits car driven by farang, flees the scene in Nan

A monk has been arrested after he crashed his car into a vehicle being driven by a farang and then fled the scene in Nan Province yesterday, Jan. 23.

The accident occurred in Chai Sathan, Mueang Nan at around 10:20 p.m.

The victim, named as Mr. Sean Peter Kenney, 54 was crossing the Ban Ta Kaew intersection when his vehicle was struck by a car driven by the monk, Mr. Phra Chamroen Chittasaro, 50.

Instead of being reasonable, the monk instead fled the scene and was later found by police at a monastery in Ban Thung Kham, Chai Sathan about seven kilometers away.

A subsequent breath test of all parties found that the monk was over the legal limit for alcohol.

Police are waiting on a blood test result from the monk before charging him with negligent driving, drink driving and leaving the scene of an accident.
