Around 100 dogs of which around 80 were in poor health have been taken from a farm in Chiang Rai Province.
Nation TV reports that members of the Chiang Rai Elephant and Environmental Conservation Foundation and SOS Thailand had to negotiate with the owner to take the dogs after neighbors in Ban Na Mun, Tambon Mae Sai, Amphoe Mae Sai had complained both about the well being of the dogs as well as the smell emanating from the farm.
Of the dogs, most were either Chihuahuas, Golden Retrievers or Siberian Huskies.
The owner of the farm said that the dogs had previously been owned by his daughter but she had died and he did not know how to look after them.
Four of the dogs were in such a serious condition that they were sent to Thonglor Vet Hospital in Chiang Mai for treatment.
Police are currently considering laying charges under the Animal Protection Act.
