15-year-old girl treated after being bitten by green snake in Hot District

A 15-year-old girl has been treated by emergency services personnel after being bitten by a green snake in Hot District last night, May 26.

The snake attackd the girl at around 7:30 p.m. at a house in Moo 9 Bo Sali.

According to reports, the girl was unplugging a rice cooker when the snake attacked her, latching onto her left hand.

While described simply as a green snake by Thai language media, the snake, given pictures was likely a White-lipped Pit Viper (trimeresurus albolabris), a species of snake endemic to Southeast Asia.

According to Wikipedia, bites from the snake can range from mild poisoning to death.

After receiving treatment at the scene, the girl was taken to Hot District Hospital for observation.
