Two people were injured, one of them seriously, in a traffic accident which was attributed to poor visibility possibly caused by haze pollution in Chon Buri yesterday.
A car, an articulated lorry and a motorcycle were involved in the accident on Highway 331 in tambon Khao Mai Kaew of Bang Lamung district.
A Nissan Tiida slammed into the back of the lorry as it was making a U-turn. The motorcyclist then crashed into the back of the car.
One man in his early thirties, who was not identified, had to be cut from the Nissan before being taken to hospital where he was reported to be in a serious condition. Motorcyclist Kan Promjantuek, 39, was slightly injured.
The truck driver, identified only as Apiluck, said he was heading to Si Racha district when the accident occurred.
He told police the crash happened while the area was blanketed in a haze which limited visibility.
Chon Buri was one of 19 provinces, including Bangkok, where PM2.5 fine dust exceeded safe levels yesterday, according to the Centre for Air Pollution Mitigation.
