Two Thai workers were yesterday killed and eight others wounded in a Palestinian rocket strike on an Israeli farm just over the Gaza border, police said.
The Hamas and Islamic Jihad militant groups claimed responsibility for the attack.
In Thailand, Tanee Sangrat, Foreign Ministry spokesman, said Pannapa Chantararom, Thai ambassador to Israel, had been informed by Eyal Siso, deputy director-general of Israel’s Consular Affairs Department, of the tragedy.
Mr Sangrat said the Hamas rocket attack targeted Eshkol, some 14km from Gaza.
He said the Royal Thai Embassy in Israel was coordinating with concerned agencies to find out the names of those who were killed and injured.
He said he was closely monitoring the case and the safety of all Thai people living in the country.
Palestinian militants resumed cross-border rocket fire yesterday after a brief overnight lull.
