A 25-year-old man was arrested yesterday, March 3 in relation to the theft of donations from a wat in Si Phum last month.
The theft took place at Wat Dab Pai on Singharat Road Feb. 23.
Using CCTV footage both at the wat itself and on surrounding streets, police tracked the suspect, Mr. Phasom Somchai to a house in Moo 4 Pa Daet.
Along with the theft from the wat, Mr. Somchai is also alleged to have stolen amulets in the vicinity of Wat Buppharam on Thapae Road which he later sold to a “Buddha amulet shop” in Chang Phueak for 2,300 baht.
Clearly the amulets weren’t lucky for him as he was charged with burglary in a public place of worship while using a vehicle for the convenience of wrongdoing.” He was remanded in custody pending a court hearing.
