27 people were arrested last night, April 16-17 across Chiang Mai Province for various coronavirus offenses on the 13th day since the introduction of the curfew.
In a bizarre case, seven younger people were arrested by Chang Phueak Police for getting together and partying in breach of social distancing rules but it didn’t stop there – they were also charged with illegal gambling and violating the curfew.
The gambling game they were playing involved a deck of cards and is described as “Pok Peng Beng.” Photos from the scene show that they were playing for money.
The remainder of the arrests were far more simple – people being out between 10 p.m. and 4 am. in breach of the curfew.
The total of those arrested in Chiang Mai now sits at 434.
