Homes were damaged this morning as a storm, whipped up by the remnants of Typhoon Mangkhut ripped through Chai Prakan District
27 houses are reported to have suffered damage, including lost roofs and structural damage, while countless trees and power poles were brought down by the strong winds generated by the storm in multiple sub-districts.
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Chiang Mai is reported to have deployed emergency workers to the affected areas with Royal Thai Army soldiers also assisting in repairing damage.
Typhoon Mangkhut was downgraded to a low-pressure system as it crossed over Kunming in China overnight but its remnants are still affecting a broad area around it. A weather warning for heavy rain, storms, possible flash flooding and mudslides remains in place through Thursday for northern Thailand.
