29 arrested in Chiang Mai for breaching the COVID-19 curfew on day six

29 people were arrested across Chiang Mai Province overnight April 8-9 for breaching the coronavirus curfew on day six, the lowest number since April 3-4.

Numbers for each district were not available at the time of writing with only some police stations reporting numbers.

Chang Phueak Police arrested two people for breaching the curfew while Saraphi Police arrested three – two Thai people and a person described as a foreigner.

Hang Police Police did not arrest curfew breakers but interestingly gave a list of all vehicles passing through their checkpoint last night. 25 vehicles were being driven by medical practitioners, 16 consumer cargo, 14 transporting agricultural products, 12 people were returning from or going to night work, five people were traveling to or from Chiang Mai International Airport and one personal was going to hospital.

Chiang Mai Data Center reported that the total number of people arrested for breaching the coronavirus curfew since it began now sits at 244. Notably, the fine being imposed for those caught has now doubled to 3,000 baht. Those arrested are also imprisoned 15 days then upon release are in home detention for seven days along with a one year probation period.
