10 days after a 4.1 earthquake in Doi Saket was felt across the Chiang Mai metro area, another earthquake was recorded in Doi Saket yesterday, Oct. 27.
The 3.3 on the Richter scale earthquake struck at 10:10 a.m. at 18.918 N 99.238 E – right near the junction of Chiang Mai – Chiang Rai Road (Highway 118) and Rural Road 3005 in Mae Pong.
The Thailand Meteorological Department reported that it was felt close to the epicenter although there are no reports of it being felt further away.
As a precaution, authorities inspected the Mae Kuang Udom Thara Dam in Doi Saket for damage but found none.
Of note, a 2.4 earthquake was recorded in Laos near the border with Nan Provence, nearly directly due east of the Doi Saket earthquake earlier the same day.
