4.2M yaba tablets seized following shootout with drug runners in Mae Sai

4.2 million yaba tablets have been seized following the latest shootout involving drug runners in Mae Sai, Chiang Rai Feb. 23.

The shootout occurred in a forested area on the Myanmar border in Ban Pa Daeng Luang in Tambon Ko Chang at around 9 p.m.

Royal Thai Army soldier were patrolling the area when they came across approximately 20 men with backpacks and weapons. After demanding that the drug runners surrender, a shootout of approximately 15 minutes then took place with no one injured.

All of the drug runners managed to escape, crossing the Ruak River back into Myanmar with the drugs found shortly thereafter.
