46 arrested for breaching coronavirus curfew on day four in Chiang Mai

46 people were arrested overnight April 6-7 across Chiang Mai Province for breaching the coronavirus curfew, a drop from the 58 people arrested the night before.

Most curfew violators were arrested in Mueang with Mueang Chiang Mai Police, Mae Ping Police Station, Phuping Rajanawet Police Station and Chang Phuak Police arresting 23 people between them.

Numbers were not available at the time of writing for all other districts however five people described as being members of a hill tribe were arrested by Mae Chaem Police for breaching the curfew.

Mae Jo Police, covering parts of San Sai reported arresting two people.

Notably, Chang Phueak Police also additionally charged two people caught breaking the curfew with driving a vehicle while intoxicated.

Anyone caught breaching the curfew is being fined 1,500 baht and is being imprisoned for 15 days. Upon release, they are then subject to seven day home detention and a one year probation period.

One additional person was also arrested last night on a drug charge.
