The second night of the 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. kingdom-wide coronavirus curfew saw 52 people arrested across Chiang Mai province last night April 4-5, up from 21 the night before.
People were arrested across the province. While some reports suggested that those breaching the curfew were teenagers, the majority were aged between 20 and 40.
Six people were arrested at a checkpoint in Chang Phueak while others were arrested in Mae Taeng, Mae Rim, Fang, San Patong, Hot, Mai Ai, San Sai, Chiang Dao and Mueang.
14 people were also arrested by Chang Phueak Police for holding an illegal get together in breach of social distancing laws.
Mae Taeng Police noted that there is a need to act correctly as police do not want to arrest people for breaching the curfew. They added that if people do not want a 24-hour curfew it’s important that they cooperate.
Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam said Friday that the curfew is likely to be extended anyway and could increase to eight, 10, 12 or even more hours per day.
