6.8 million yaba tablets have been seized after police chased down drug mules transporting them in a pickup truck near the Mekong River n Chiang Rai this morning, Nov. 28.
The chase began on Highway 1129 between Chiang Sean and Chiang Khong in Baan Huay Meng, Moo 6 Waing, Chiang Khong where a black Bangkok-registered pickup truck was spotted approaching a checkpoint. The pickup truck itself stopped short of the checkpoint, turned around and headed back in the direction in which it had come.
Police pursued the vehicle, chasing it to Ban Muang Kan, Moo 9 Rimkhong, Chiang Khong where they found the vehicle abandoned, the drugs mules having fled the scene.
Police are continuing to investigate including tracing the registered owner of the vehicle.
