87-year-old woman rescued as floods affect various parts of Phrae

An 87-year-old was rescued from her home Saturday, Aug. 31 as floodwaters rose across Phrae Province.

Mrs. Choa Kaew Kuna from Phai Yoi, Moo 4 Nam Lao, Rong Kwang District was rescued by Royal Thai Army officers at around 2 p.m.

The flooding problems affected various parts of Rong Kwang District after Mae Kham Pong, the major river through the district broke its banks.

A bridge in Tambon Mae Yang Tan was washed out, cutting a key road while flooding was also reported in Tambon Mae Lao.

In other areas, houses suffered minor flooding and in one case a mudslide in Nai Wiang, Muaeng Phrae.

As of this morning, Sept. 2, RTA soldiers from the 12th Cavalry Brigade as well as workers from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Phrae Province were assisting locals with the cleanup.
