93 people have been arrested after a joint raid by Chang Phueak Police and Royal Thai Army soldiers on an illegal casino in Pa Tan yesterday, Oct. 5.
The casino, an actual casino complete with professional gambling tables as opposed to few grandmas playing with dice on a balcony, was being run from a location at 313 Soi Talat 9, Pa Tan.
Upon arrival, police arrested 50 men and 43 women of various ages as well as seizing 105,160 baht in cash, 300 packs of cards, three gambling tables and other related equipment including “mechanical equipment” that may have been slot machines.
Police said that the would prosecute all of those arrested. Despite wild popularity, gambling, with the exception of the Thai Lottery and the odd horse racing course, is highly illegal in the Kingdom.
