Arrest total hits 492 in Chiang Mai after 16 days of coronavirus curfew

The arrest total hit 492 in Chiang Mai Province after 16 nights of the kingdom-wide coronavirus curfew.

27 people were arrested on day 16 April 19-20 for various coronavirus related offenses including 20 people who were outside after 10 p.m. without a reasonable excuse.

Chang Phueak Police arrested a 28-year-old man on a motorcycle Canal Road (Highway 121) for breaching the curfew and found he was also in possession of 49 yaba tablets.

The man, named in reports only as Mr. Thanakorn confessed, saying that he was going to eat with a group of friends and didn’t think authorities would have a checkpoint in the area.

Five people were arrested by San Kamphaeng Police on day 15 – April 18-19 for breaching the curfew.

The curfew itself is expected to last through to April 30.
