18 people were arrested across Chiang Mai Province last night April 10-11 for breaching the coronavirus curfew.
In addition, four people described as “teenagers” noting that they were probably in their 20s were also arrested after being caught drinking together in a home in Chiang Dao. The four were charged with breaching social distancing rules.
The number of people arrested in Chiang Mai after eight nights of the curfew now sits at 290. Those caught are being fined 3,000 baht and sent to prison for 15 days. Upon release, curfew violators are in home detention for seven days and are given a one year probation period.
The number arrested last night was the lowest number of arrests in the province since the curfew began – the previous lowest number was 21 on day one.
According to the Pattaya Mail, over 5,000 people have been arrested across Thailand since the Kingdom-wide curfew began.
