‘Big bike’ rider decapitated in horror accident on Doi Khun Tan

A so-called “big bike” rider was decapitated in an accident through Doi Khun Tan in Lampang yesterday, Feb. 6.

The accident occurred on Chiang Mai – Lampang Road (Highway 11) near the 414-kilometer marker through Wiang Tan, Hang Chat District at around 3:15 p.m.

The deceased, Mr. Satuea Kiewphong, 28 from Chanthaburi Province was heading northbound towards Chiang Mai on a Kawasaki Z650 with a group of friends when he lost control on the bend, slamming into a light pole and losing his head in the process.

Other than losing control on the notorious section of the highway, police believe that the deceased was unfamiliar with the road and was traveling at an inappropriate speed for the conditions, contributing to the accident.

The body was taken to Hang Chat Hospital for an autopsy before being released to family members for funeral rites.
