Body of newborn baby found in Chiang Rai dump

The body of a dead newborn baby with its umbilical cord still attached was found at a dump in Chiang Rai yesterday, Aug. 20.

The body was found in trash being separated at the facility in Pa Tueng, Mae Chan District by employees.

The dead child was male and weighed about 3.2 kilograms, consistent with a child between eight to nine months of gestation.

Police are said to be investigating. One theory is that the child may have been aborted by a teenager, a practice that is not that uncommon in the north sadly.
