A body of a dead newborn baby was discovered in Santitham yesterday, Jan. 29
The body of the newborn child – believed to be around seven to eight months along was found by a Burmese cleaner in rubbish outside of a dormitory on Wiang Bua Road Soi 6 at around 8 p.m.
The umbilical cord of the child was still attached.
Thai language media describes the child as being “aborted” but may also be describing a stillborn birth.
Police are said to be checking CCTV coverage to see if they can identify the mother.
They also suspect that the mother may be a teenager as this isn’t the first time, nor will be the last time a pregnant teen may have abandoned a baby in Chiang Mai.
