Chiang Mai Bars, Pubs & Entertainment Venues Close for 14 Days Due To COVID-19 Fears

Chiang Mai Governor, Charoenrit Sanguansat, has announced, all bars, pubs, nightclubs, karaoke bars and other similar entertainment venues have been ordered to close for 14 days from today, 6th January to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Restaurants can remain open but cannot sell alcohol and they must follow disease control measures including the wearing of face masks, social distancing and customer check-ins.

The opening of shopping malls is under review as the COVID-19 outbreak in Chiang Mai is closely monitored.

This follows yesterdays meeting of the provincial communicable disease committee where they decided that 5 entertainment venues must close for 3 days and their staff self-isolate for 14 days, to help stop the virus spreading.
