Cinemas in Chiang Mai have been allowed to reopen today with strict safety measures put in place.
At 10.30 am on 2nd June, Mr Natthachudej Wiriyadiloktham, Deputy Mayor of Chiang Mai was joined by police officers and officials from the Chiang Mai Provincial Health Office, as he inspected Major Cineplex Movie Theater and other cinema complexes around the city.
The Major Cineplex, located at Kad Suan Kaew Shopping Center has made several changes to comply with what they are calling the “new normal service” including:
- Reducing the cinema from 6 theatres to 4 theatres
- Cleaning and spraying disinfectants on all seats after each screening
- Adding additional air purifiers in each theatre
- Installing signs on seats to ensure social distancing is adhered to
In addition to this, tickets can only be purchased through ticket machines using mobile banking apps and face masks must be worn at all times. Temperature checks are also in place and customers will need to check-in and out using the Thai Chana, aka Thai Wins app.
All cinema employees have been told they must wear a face mask and face shield at all times, and take a fever test every 3 hours.
