Chiang Mai Governor, Charoenrit, organised a tree planting activity yesterday to increase the number of trees in green areas across Chiang Mai.
On 7th June, Chiang Mai Governor Charoenrit Sanguansat, led a group of people to Khon Muang Chiang Mai Vegetable Garden inside Chang Khlan Cemetery, Mueang Chiang Mai district. The land, formerly used as a garbage dump, saw the group plant 22 large auspicious trees and plants including White Champaca, Champak, Ironwood, Pachira Aquatica and Yellow Star trees. A variety of vegetables were also planted in a new vegetable patch.
The move is aimed at producing a healthy food source and creating more green spaces in Chiang Mai. The Governor hopes to create more opportunities for a better quality of life for people in the local community and surrounding areas. This is part of a long term plan to build an agricultural network in the city which will help promote vegetable growing activities and generate income for more people in the community.
