Chinese tourist who was found dead in Mae Rim may have died from alcohol poisoning

A Chinese tourist who was found dead in mysterious circumstances in Mae Rim yesterday Jan. 29 may have died from alcohol poisoning according to reports.

The woman was found at an unnamed resort in Ban Pang Pa Kha, Tambon Mae Ram at around 11 a.m.

According to Kapook, the woman had started drinking with friends at lunchtime but then got seriously drunk during the evening. It’s believed the woman drank two bottles of liquor before going to bed.

Dr. Thongchai Lertwilairattanaphong Inspector General of the Ministry of Public Health Region 1 said separately that there is no evidence that the woman had Wuhan Novel Coronavirus and that previous reports suggesting that she had flu-like symptoms before dying were not true.

Her body is undergoing an autopsy to be on the safe side. Dr. Lertwilairattanaphong added that the use of protective clothing at the scene was a precaution given concerns over the virus.

As of 2:40 p.m. Jan. 30 there has still been no cases of coronavirus detected in the north.
