Chiang Mai University is establishing at 250 million baht fund to assist students impacted by COVID-19.
The fund, that will cover both undergraduate and graduate students has been created to pay for education fees and dormitory fees for affected students from the summer semester onwards. With mass unemployment many parents of students are currently unable to pay fees and other expenses.
CMU is also establishing a new scholarship fund to provide additional assistance to students who lack all funds. The Student Loan Fund has also been expanded to provide emergency assistance to students.
In addition, the university has also put in place measures to reduce tuition fees by at least 10 percent for the rest of the year and is also looking to reduce dormitory fees.
CMU alumni and philanthropists are being asked to donate to the fund via this link.
