A married couple were found murdered in the front yard of their home in Moo 2 Yonok, Chiang Sean District in Chiang Rai this morning, Nov. 6 at 7 a.m.
The couple, Mr. Boon Chan Sing Saat, 62, a former assistant village headman and Mrs. Saeng Chan Sing Saat, 57 were found dead, a meter apart by a passerby who called by police.
Both bodies had injuries to the neck consistent with strangulation.
A wheelbarrow and a large pile of peanuts were found near the bodies with police believing that they were attacked while they were in their garden picking peanuts.
The exact motivation behind the murder is unknown but it’s it is known that the couple had been previously involved in a land dispute that had been mediated by the local village headman.
The bodies were taken to Chiang Rai Prachanukroh Hospital for an autopsy. Police are said to be investigating including interviewing neighbors and other locals in the area.
