On 17th June 2020, Mr Jurin Laksanawisit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce rang the bell to open the “Back to School” project.
The project will help reduce the cost of living for parents across Thailand during the next school term by reducing the price of school materials and uniforms by up to 80%.
The discounted products will fall into 6 main categories with a total of 1605 items reduced for kids in kindergarten through to high school.
The discounts are available from now until 15th July 2020.
The 6 discount groups consist of:
School uniform
883 items with up to 66% off including shirts, trousers/pants and skirts, boy scout uniforms, girl scout uniforms and young red cross uniforms.
Footwear
79 items with up to 80% off including socks, leather shoes, sports shoes and sneakers.
Bags
59 items with up to 50% discount including school bags, backpacks, shoulder bags and pencil cases.
Books & Textbooks
397 items with up to 70% off including kindergarten/elementary/secondary school books, basic Thai storybooks, part-time reading books and children’s novels.
Stationary
160 items with up to 50% off including coloured pencils and pens, ballpoint pens, compasses, correction pens, pencils, erasers, colouring kits, rulers and highlighters.
Learning / Teaching Media
27 items with up to 70% off including science equipment for pre-school children, sports equipment, educational games and skill games.

The 13 department stores participating in the programme with the Ministry of Commerce are:
Makro, Ek-Chai Distribution System, Big C Supercenter, Central Department Store, Robinson Department Store, Central Food Retail, The Mall Group, Tang Hua Seng Department Store, CP, AEON (Thailand), Lawson, CJ Express and Foodland.
The “Back to School” project is expected to help over 10.7 million students across Thailand and reduce the cost of living for parents throughout the country by over 5000 million baht.
