A PT tanker transporting diesel from Lampang to Phayao has overturned in Lampang spilling a part of its load today, Nov. 12.
The accident occurred on a windy stretch of Highway 1 in Moo 3 Ban Dong, Mae Mo District at around 10 a.m. this morning.
The driver of the tanker, Mr. Pongsak Chiang-ngan, 60, said that the tanker had experienced a problem causing him to lose control and the tanker to flip.
Police were forced to halt traffic in both directions due to fears that the tanker could explode.
Fortunately, only the rear compartment of the tanker was breached with much of the diesel later recovered by another tanker called to the scene.
