On Tuesday, the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) accepted a child pornography and sexual abuse case involving the popular Nene modelling agency.
DSI director-general Korrawat Panpraphakorn said the department has taken up for special investigation the child sexual abuse case against Danudetch Saengkaew, who ran the modelling agency.
Danudetch was arrested last Thursday for allegedly producing and distributing child pornography with over 500,000 obscene photos stocked in computers at his modelling agency in Pathum Thani. Police also believed some of the children photographed were sexually abused.
It was reported the police arrest of Danudetch followed an exchange of information with Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.), the Australian Federal Police and Operation Blackwrist, initiated by Interpol.
In 2018, police managed to locate one suspect in Surin who shot nude photos of children which were then supplied to the modelling agency.
Pol Lt Col Panpraphakorn said the investigation also led to the arrest of Thakorn Attapathomchai by Chok Chai police in Bangkok before investigators were able to establish a link to Danudetch who was accused of creating and distributing over 500,000 nude photos and sexual abuse content on the internet.
Thakorn has since been sentenced to 19 years in jail. His prison term was commuted to nine years due to his confession.
