After a break in seismic activity in the north over the last fortnight, two earthquakes were recorded in Chiang Mai Province this morning, March 6 – one in Chiang Dao and one in Mae Chaem.
The first – a 2.2 on the Richter scale was recorded at 1:16 a.m. at 18.368 N 98.279 E – Kong Khaek in Mae Chaem east of Highway 1088 and Op Luang National Park.
The second, a 2.7 was recorded at 4:53 a.m. at 19.375 N 98.731 E – Mueang Khong in Chiang Dao within the Chiang Dao Wildlife Sanctuary.
For the hat trick in the broader north a 2.1 earthquake was also recorded at 1:08 a.m. at 19.559 N 101.012 E – Huai Kon in Chaloen Phra Kiat District in Nan near the Highway 101 border crossing into Laos.
