Seismic activity appears to be picking up in the north with two earthquakes recorded this morning, July 15 – one in San Sai and one in Phayao.
The first earthquake, a 1.8 on the Richter scale, struck at 1:42 a.m. at 18.809 N 99.047 E – Moo 5 San Phranet near the Outer Ring Road (Highway 121).
The second and larger earthquake, a 2.4, struck at 10:04 a.m. at 19.102 N 100.317 E – Kuan, Pong District, Phayao near Highway 1091.
The two earthquakes follow a 2.1 in Mae Wang July 10, a 1.7 in Chom Thong July 8 and a 2.3 recorded in Chae Hom July 1.
