A fake 100 baht note was found in a donation box at Wat Phra That Chedi Luang in Si Phum yesterday, June 3.
The note was uncovered as committee members were removing and counting donations made to the Wat prior to banking them.
Mr. Prasit Chuangduang, the director of the Wat said that the note stood out as it had an unusually smooth surface and a grip that felt like paper. Further inspection of the note found that it had no watermark.
The note was subsequently handed in to Chiang Mai Provincial Police Station.
Mr. Chuangduang said that he wanted to publicize the case so as to warn the public that fake notes are in circulation and to prevent them being fooled by them.
